Missions
VI believes in service, especially to those outside the walls of this ministry. This year, such efforts have included: the Appalachia Service Project Missions Trip, where 25 students improved housing for the poor of eastern Kentucky; the 30 Hour Famine, where 35 students showed up to “starve” themselves for 30 hours, resulting in our raising over $1700 for hungry children around the world, as well as collecting more than 1600 items of food for a local food pantry; Operation Christmas Child, where our ministry collected more than 80 shoe boxes filled with gifts for needy children; Servant Evangelism, where 10-15 of our youth went into streets & parking lots performing random acts of kindness; Elevation Service Project, when our ministry devoted a day of our retreat to serving at a horse farm for handicapped children; Serve-a-thon, where teams of students served all over Cincinnati, all the while raising more than $20,000 for this ministry; and finally, we sponsor a child through Compassion International, providing him food, clothing, education, and spiritual enlightenment.
