Are You Making Time for God?

The answer to this question for myself anyway is, not enough. When I look back over my week from time to time and think about all of the things I have done and the varied ways I have used my time, it amazes me how little time I actually devote to my one-on-one relationship with my Heavenly Dad. I spend hours going to school, working, doing church, watching TV, studying, reading, working out, etc. And yet week after week, when I tell myself over and over, this week I am going to pray more and read my bible, I inevitably fail. I wonder why that is? Why is it so hard sometimes to give just a few minutes a day to God. This article is not meant to provide some deep, philosophical answer or any answer at all. I think we all struggle with this. There are so many things in this life that are competing for our time. There are so many activities and commitments and filler that quieting our soul for 5 minutes a day seems to take a Herculean effort. I think its because God doesn’t fight to get our attention sometimes. The bible talks about His voice being still and small, not booming. So am I listening enough? The answer to that, ashamedly, is not nearly. I want to challenge you and myself. Our relationship with our creator is the MOST IMPORTANT relationship we will ever have. Is God getting your best, or just your leftovers? So pray for me, I’ll pray for you and lets keep one another accountable. The greatest accomplishment you can make of this life is a life lived in and with Christ, does our schedule reflect that? I know mine doesn’t and I for one need to/want to change…how about you?
