SYATP

For those of you who missed it, SYATP this year was a phenomenal experience. It was held Wednesday, September 29th this year at schools throughout the nation. SYATP is a chance for students to bring their faith to school and impact the lives of the students they see every day. Though I am never a fan of getting up early in the morning, and I actually arrived late, I was amazed and highly impressed with the student turn out, and most especially with our students here at VI. While last year I participated in SYATP at CCD and Madeira, this year I joined in the action at Mariemont. Hannah Mauk had outlined an entire program for the students, including scripture reading, prayer and praise music. Drew Troller showed off his mad skills as not only a talented guitar player, but also as a vocalist. Laura Martin read this year’s key scripture and gave a small devotion on the topic. To see our students, especially our student leadership, step up to the challenge and take what can be a rather routine and simplistic event and turn it into a full fledged worship, well, lets just say I was very proud to know that these students are leading VI into the next few years. We talk a lot about passion here at the ministry (mostly Peggy talks about it, but we all agree) and that is what I witnessed this year at SYATP. I saw kids on fire for God and ready to bring their “A” game in order to further his kingdom. If you missed it, I am sorry, because you missed great worship, but hopefully this will inspire you to come next year, to bring the gifts and talents you possess to this very special event. And hopefully, next year, I will see YOU at the pole.
