So who loves the show “Extreme Home Makeover”? I happen to be an enormous fan. Yes, I love to see the people’s reactions to their new and beautiful homes, but my favorite part of the show is seeing how all of these people work together to make a dilapidated house look new and wonderful. I think that the before and after shots are my favorite part of the whole show. It’s amazing the immense changes that those buildings go through. Within a brief period of just seven days, they are literally transformed from shacks into palaces.

We as humans also need “makeovers” from time to time. And no, I’m not talking about physical makeovers (but those are always great, too). No, I’m referring to a spiritual “renovation”. The world has a tiresome way of wearing all of us down. I admit to succumbing to the numbing wear-and-tear of everyday life. Often, it just feels as if one is just going through the motions monotonously, with no real passion, meaning, or drive. Sometimes, our spirits are just “falling apart”, in desperate need of a makeover. Unfortunately, this type of renovating isn’t as simple as fixing a broken-down house. However, it doesn’t have to be as complicated as one might make it out to be.

God is the ULTIMATE architect, designer, carpenter, painter, landscape artist, and woodworker. Trust me, when it comes to our spiritual lives, He knows exactly how to fix them. Come to Him broken, and you will most definitely leave “fixed”. The reaction and emotions that come as a result of this will be even more extreme than the ones all of those families get when they see their new homes. In fact, they will be ten times better. So go to God with your broken “spiritual house”. I have the utmost confidence that He will mend you and leave you better than you ever were. God will give you the best makeover you’ve ever had!
